USU WBB NOTES - Utah State Women's Basketball Continues Road Trip at Long Beach State and Cal State Fullerton

Utah State women's basketball (1-2) continues its road slate with a pair of games in California this week. The Aggies will first take on Long Beach State (1-2) on Monday, Nov. 18, at 8 p.m. (MT), inside The Walter Pyramid in Long Beach, Calif. USU then takes on Cal State Fullerton (2-1) on Wednesday, Nov. 20, at 8 p.m. (MT), inside the Titan Gym in Fullerton, Calif.

HOW TO FOLLOW
This week's games will be broadcast by bigwest.org/live. Radio coverage will be provided by 92.3 KBLU with Jaden Johnson on the call. Live stats and play-by-play information will be available for both games, with Monday's game being available through StatBroadcast, while updates will also be provided through the team's social media outlets. Links to each option will be available online prior to the game.

CLOSING IN ON THE CENTURY MARK
Senior forward Hailey Bassett has never missed a game in her Aggie career. Bassett has appeared in 98 games for Utah State, and is just two games out from becoming the 16th Aggie to play in 100 games.

MEDICAL LEAVE OF ABSENCE
Utah State head coach Jerry Finkbeiner is on a medical leave of absence for a non-life-threatening health condition. In his absence, associate head coach Ben Finkbeiner will oversee the program.

I'LL TAKE THAT
Utah State has forced 50 turnovers and turned them into 45 points in its first three games of the 2019-20 season. Eleven different Aggies have snagged at least one steal this season, with sophomore guard Steph Gorman leading the way with nine thefts.

AGGIE CAREER-HIGH SPREAD
Several Aggies recorded career-high stats in the first two games of the 2019-20 season. Against Portland, sophomore guard Steph Gorman stole the ball a career-high six times, while junior guard Emmie Harris tied her career high with four assists and three steals. Senior guard Lindsey Jensen-Baker snagged a career-high five rebounds against the Pilots. Against Seattle, Gorman scored a career-high 28 points, doubling her previous of 14 points. Jensen-Baker and senior forward Marlene Aniambossou also scored career highs with 15 and 13 points, respectively. Aniambossou also had career highs with nine rebounds and three steals against the Redhawks, while redshirt sophomore guard/forward Taylor Franson had a career-high-tying five rebounds.

HOT HAND FROM DEEP
Sophomore guard Steph Gorman is shooting 45.5 percent (10- of-22) from behind the arc over the first three games of the 2019-20 season to rank fourth in the Mountain West. In the last two games combined, Gorman is shooting 53.3 percent (8-of15) from long range. Gorman ranks third in the Mountain West and 46th in the nation in 3-pointers made per game with 3.3, and her 10 made threes rank 22nd in the nation.

CONSISTENT SCORERS
The Aggies have had at least three players score in double figures in Utah State's first three games of the 2019-20 season. Sophomore guard Steph Gorman (17.7 ppg), senior guard Lindsey Jensen-Baker (12.3 ppg) and senior forward Marlene Aniambossou (11.7 ppg) have scored in double figures in all three games of the 2019-20 season. Senior forward Hailey Bassett has recorded double digit scoring in two of the games.

FIRST-QUARTER SPARK
In its two opening games of the 2019-20 season, Utah State outscored its opponents, 43-23, in the first quarter. In the 70-64 loss to Portland, senior forward Hailey Bassett and senior guard Lindsey Jensen-Baker led the first quarter effort with six points apiece to outscore the Pilots, 24-16. In the 70-63 win over Seattle, sophomore guard Steph Gorman led the way in the first period with 10 points as the Aggies outscored the Redhawks 19-7.

ADVENTURAS EN COZUMEL
In August, the Utah State women's basketball team had the opportunity to travel to Cozumel, Mexico. During the trip, the Aggies played local teams, participated in various clinics and toured the island of Cozumel.

NEW YEAR, NEW NUMBER
Three Aggies changed their jersey numbers for the 2019-20 season as junior guard Emmie Harris swapped 32 for 10, sophomore forward Emma Dudley 34 for 14 and redshirt sophomore guard/forward Taylor Franson 41 for 42.

NEW YEAR, NEW NUMBER - PART II
Redshirt sophomore guard/forward Taylor Franson changed her jersey number from 41 to 42 in honor of her father, Eric Franson, who played for the Utah State men's basketball team from 1993- 96. Eric Franson was the 1995 Big West Conference Player of the Year, a three-time all-Big West player after being named to the first team twice and second team once, and was named to the Big West all-freshman team.
