FRISCO, Texas – After leaving Salt Lake City via a charter airplane at approximately noon on Monday, Utah State's football team arrived in Frisco at 4:30 p.m. (CT).
The Aggies are in town for the Tropical Smoothie Cafe Frisco Bowl, which will be played on Friday, Dec. 20, at 5:30 p.m. (MT), against Kent State and televised nationally on ESPN2. For Utah State, this will be its eighth bowl game in the past nine seasons and its 14th in program history.
Following its arrival at the hotel, the team gathered for a welcome dinner at Toyota Stadium. The Aggies then returned to their hotel for some free time, which included picking out bowl gifts.
Utah State will continue bowl preparations on Tuesday, Dec. 17, with their first practice in Texas at the Dallas Cowboy's practice facility, the Ford Center at The Star from 9:30-11 a.m. (CT). Members of the team will then participate in a charity event in the afternoon, followed by a team function at Top Golf that night.
Bowl prep will continue on Wednesday, Dec. 18, with another practice from 12:15-1:30 p.m. (CT). Both teams will then gather for the Frisco Bowl Dinner that night.
On Thursday, Dec. 19, USU head coach
Gary Andersen and Kent State head coach Sean Lewis, along with select players from each team, will address the media in the bowl game's only pre-game press conference at 9:30 a.m. (CT). Members of both teams will also take a Hospital Visit that afternoon, along with its final walk through of the season.
Utah State and Kent State will be meeting for the third time in series history with each team winning on the road in the previous two outings as Kent State posted a 27-16 road win in 1973, while USU notched a 27-24 road win in 1974.
