LOGAN, Utah - Utah State women's basketball (3-4, 0-0 MW) posted a 61-49 victory over Dixie State on Monday night inside the Dee Glen Smith Spectrum. After being tied at 36-36 at the half, Utah State outscored Dixie State, 25-13, in the second half and limited the Trailblazers to just four points in the fourth quarter.
Three Aggies scored in double figures in the win as sophomore guard
Steph Gorman had 16 points, senior forward
Hailey Bassett had 15 and senior guard
Lindsey Jensen-Baker recorded her first career double-double with 11 points and a career-high 11 rebounds. Bassett also recorded a career-high five blocks in the victory.
Utah State out-rebounded Dixie State, 46-30. Along with Jensen-Baker's 11, USU had four other players record at least five rebounds as Bassett had nine, freshman guard
Faith Brantley had a career-high eight, redshirt sophomore guard/forward
Taylor Franson had a career high of six and Gorman had five. The Aggies collected 15 offensive boards which resulted in 16 second chance points compared to the Trailblazers' two.
Dixie State was led by junior guard Keslee Stevenson with 18 points.
USU shot 36.4 percent (24-of-66) from the field, 38.9 percent (7-of-18) from behind the arc and 75.0 percent (6-of-8) at the free throw line. Dixie State shot 34.6 percent (18-of-52) from the floor, 27.8 percent (5-of-18) from behind the 3-point line and 100.0 percent (8-of-8) at the free throw line.
Utah State begins Mountain West action on Wednesday, Dec. 4, as the Aggies host San José State (5-3, 0-0 MW) at 7 p.m., inside the Dee Glen Smith Spectrum.
