LOGAN, Utah – Utah State head men's tennis coach James Wilson has announced the addition of Arvid Hjalte (Falkenberg, Sweden) to the team, opening his collegiate career during the 2019-20 season.
"Arvid has proven to be one of the best players in Sweden throughout his junior career," said Wilson. "When he came on campus, we were impressed with his mindset and desire to excel in academics and athletics. I believe he will make a strong contribution to our team next year."
Hjalte (Jal-T), who's ranked No. 4 in the Sweden U18 and has a Universal Tennis Ranking of 13, has numerous accolades during his career, including being a semifinalist in the Swedish Doubles Championship in 2016. He also won the mix doubles title in the Sweden U16 tournament in 2016 and was in the top-five in the U16 rankings. Hjalte was also a semifinalist in the 2015 G4 ITF tournament in Latvia.
"I chose Utah State because of the ambitious envirnoment," said Hjalte. "Together, we can do great things. Let's go Aggies!"
