BOISE, Idaho – Utah State softball continued its weekend series at Boise State Saturday, falling to the Broncos, 10-2, in five innings.   

With the loss, Utah State falls to 13-21 overall and 4-9 in Mountain West play. Boise State improves to 25-8 in the year, including a 5-6 league ledger. 

The game started out well for the Aggies, as they took the early lead in the first inning. The first two batters reached base on a walk and a fielder's choice. A double from freshman shortstop Lexi Orozco then brought sophomore outfielder Stephanie Reed home from first. 

The Broncos tied the score in the bottom of the first, scoring on a pair of singles. Boise State took hold of the game from there, scoring seven runs in the second on three home runs and a double, while USU worked through its entire pitching staff. After retiring the Aggie side over the next two innings, Boise State added another two runs in the bottom of the fourth. 

Utah State was able to snap its hitting skid in the top of the fifth, opening the inning with back-to-back singles from freshman Hannah Sisul and junior Allanah Alvarado. A fielder's choice put runners on the corners, where a sac fly from Reed brought Sisul across the plate. The Aggies drew one last walk, but a fielder's choice ended the inning and the game. 

On the day, Boise State out-hit Utah State, 10-4, while the Aggies had two errors. 

The series finale between Utah State and Boise State is scheduled for noon on Sunday, April 14.
