Former Utah State Football Player Roman Andrus Joining Kansas City Chiefs

LOGAN, Utah – 
Former Utah State offensive lineman Roman Andrus has signed an NFL free agent contract with the Kansas City Chiefs.
 
Andrus joins five other former Aggies that signed NFL free agent contracts over the weekend.
Tight end Dax Raymond and wide receiver Ron'quavion Tarver both signed with the Chicago Bears, while linebacker Jontrell Rocquemore and safety Aaron Wade both signed with the Cleveland Browns. Fellow safety Gaje Ferguson rounded out the signees as he is also joining the Chiefs.
 
The six players listed above joins Darwin Thompson in the NFL as the running back was drafted in the sixth round (214th overall pick) by the Kansas City Chiefs.
 
The seven Utah State players listed above will join 14 other former Aggies who are currently on NFL rosters, including safety Maurice Alexander (Buffalo Bills), cornerback Jalen Davis (Miami Dolphins), safety Marwin Evans (Seattle Seahawks), linebacker Kyler Fackrell (Green Bay Packers), offensive guard Tyler Larsen (Carolina Panthers), defensive back Nevin Lawson (Oakland Raiders), safety Dallin Leavitt (Oakland Raiders), running back Devante Mays (Cleveland Browns), long snapper Patrick Scales (Chicago Bears), wide receiver Hunter Sharp (Cincinnati Bengals), running back Robert Turbin (Oakland Raiders), linebacker Nick Vigil (Cincinnati Bengals), linebacker Bobby Wagner (Seattle Seahawks) and running back Kerwynn Williams (Detroit Lions).
 
Andrus, a 6-foot-3, 310-pounder from El Dorado Hills, Calif. (Oak Ridge HS/Snow College), earned second-team all-Mountain West honors from both the league's coaches and Phil Steele's Magazine after starting all 13 games as a senior, including 11 at left guard and two at left tackle. He finished the season with an overall performance grade of 93 percent, which ranked second on the team as he played in 820 snaps, which also ranked second on the team among offensive linemen. Overall, he graded out at 96 percent in effort, 96 percent in assignment and 88 percent in technique as he recorded 25 knockdowns during the year, including a season-high six against San José State.
 
Previously, Andrus garnered honorable mention all-Mountain West honors following the 2017 campaign and was a two-time academic all-conference honoree.
 
As a junior in 2017, Andrus starting all 13 games at left tackle and had an overall performance grade of 91 percent, which ranked second on the team as he played in 880 snaps, which also ranked second on the team among offensive linemen. For the year, he graded out at 94 percent in effort, 92 percent in assignment and 84 percent in technique and recorded 33 knockdowns during the year, including a season-high seven against Wyoming.
