LOGAN, Utah – Utah State softball (13-28, 4-16 MW) is set to open a two-day home-and-home series with Utah Valley (15-27, 7-11 WAC) as it plays in Orem on Saturday, May 4, at 2 p.m. The teams will then play in Logan on Sunday, May 5, at 1 p.m.
Saturday's game will be available on the WAC Digital Network, while live stats will be provided by Utah Valley. Sunday's home game will be streamed as a USU Athletics Production on the Mountain West Network, with live stats provided by SIDEARM.
Utah Valley is set for its final regular-season games, opening the week with a 15-27 overall record, including a 7-11 WAC ledger. As a team, Utah Valley is batting .284 (314-of-1,105), led by freshman outfielder Abby Doughty who is hitting .336 (41-of-122). The Wolverines have tallied 173 RBIs on 189 runs scored, while allowing 257 runs. Utah Valley has utilized four pitchers this season, with junior Devyn Cretz putting in the majority of work. In all, the Wolverines have a 5.82 ERA, allowing 422 hits and 217 earned runs.
TJ Hubbard is in his third season as the head coach at Utah Valley, where he has an overall record of 52-82. Utah State leads the all-time series against Utah Valley, 22-11.
For the Aggies, freshman shortstop
Lexi Orozco leads the team at the plate, batting .356 (42-of-118), including 13 home runs and seven doubles. As a team, USU is batting .275 (298-of-1,082). In the circle, sophomore
Delaney Hull leads the pitching staff with a 5.90 ERA in 22 starts, while the three pitchers together have allowed 338 hits and 218 earned runs with a combined 6.10 ERA.
