LOGAN, Utah - Utah State head men's basketball coach Craig Smith has announced the addition of Marco Anthony, a 6-foot-5 guard, that will be transferring from the University of Virginia. Anthony will sit one year, per NCAA transfer rules, and then have two years of eligibility remaining.

"We are thrilled to announce that Marco will be joining the Aggies!" Smith said. "Marco is a bright young man with a tremendous future ahead of him. At 6'4-6'5 and 220 pounds, he brings great size and athleticism. Marco is very skilled and brings versatility to our team. Above all, he fits our culture as a program and should thrive in Cache Valley."

Anthony played in 22 games last season as the Cavaliers captured the NCAA National Championship. Anthony averaged 1.2 points and 0.5 rebounds per game in a limited 5.4 minutes per contest. As a freshman, Anthony helped the Cavaliers to a No. 1 seed in the NCAA Tournament, appearing in 13 games during the year and averaging 2.0 points and 1.0 rebounds per game in 7.9 minutes per game. One of his best games during his career came against Louisville during his inaugural season, scoring 10 points on 4-of-6 shooting from the floor.

Anthony was a four-year letterwinner and three-time first-team all-conference honoree at Holmes High School in San Antonio, Texas, averaging 25.5 points, 10.2 rebounds and 3.7 assists per game as a senior. As a junior and sophomore, Anthony averaged 20.0 points, 7.4 rebounds and 2.9 assists per game, and 19.3 points, 7.2 rebounds and 2.4 assists per game, respectively. Anthony was also strong in the classroom, earning a pair of second-team all-academic awards.
