LOGAN, Utah – Utah State volleyball dropped its final home non-conference match Wednesday, falling to in-state rival Utah Valley in three sets. The Aggies kept the first set close, 25-22, before the Wolverines took both sets two and three in 25-17 decisions.
Junior middle blocker Bailey Downing had the best night on Kirby Court in the Wayne Estes Center. She finished the match with eight kills and added six blocks, both team highs. Utah State hit .020 (22-20-98) to Utah Valley's .168 (41-23-107).
The match featured a swap in transfer players, as Utah State senior opposite side hitter Izzie Belnap played the 2016-17 seasons at Utah Valley, while UVU redshirt junior setter Jaysa Funk Stratton spent the same two seasons at USU. Belnap finished the night with three kills, four digs and two blocks for the Aggies.
Utah State will close it's non-conference season on the road this weekend, playing at Weber State on Saturday, Sept. 21, at 6 p.m.
