USU Men's Tennis Drops 5-2 Decision to Idaho

LOGAN, Utah – Utah State men's tennis ended its first homestand of the season in a 5-2 loss to Idaho Saturday.

Though they took a loss on court one, the Aggies claimed the doubles point with wins in the No. 2 and 3 spots. Junior Felipe Acosta and freshman Javier Ruiz topped Esteban Santibanez and Francisco Bascon-Perez, 6-3, while the freshman duo of Arvid Hjalte and Christian Holmes posted a 6-2 win over Bruno Casino and Vivek Ramesh.

Ruiz picked up the sole singles win for USU Saturday, defeating Casino in a pair of 6-4 victories. Acosta and Hjalte both pushed their matches to three sets, but we're unable to close out the wins.

The Aggies head east next, as they prepare for ITA Kick-Off Weekend in Charlottesville, Va. Utah State will first take on NC State on Saturday, Jan. 25, at 8 a.m. (MT). The following day, the Aggies will play either Memphis or Virginia.
