SAN JOSE, Calif. - Utah State women's basketball (7-21, 2-15 Mountain West ) lost, 76-38, to San José State (17-11, 11-6 MW) on Monday night inside Provident Credit Union Event Center.
The Aggies were led by senior guard
Lindsey Jensen-Baker with nine points and junior guard
Emmie Harris with a career-high-tying six rebounds.
Utah State led San José State, 18-12, at the end of the first quarter after stealing the ball seven times to result in eight points. However, SJSU turned around to outscore USU, 23-4, in the second stanza and, 20-6, in the third to lead, 55-28, heading into the final period. The Aggies made four field goals in the final three quarters as the Spartans won, 76-38. The 38 points were a season-low for Utah State.
The Spartans were led by sophomore guard Ayzhiana Basallo with 18 points.
USU shot 22.6 percent (12-of-53) from the field, 7.1 percent (1-of-14) from behind the arc and 59.1 percent (13-of-22) at the free throw line. SJSU shot 40.3 percent (29-of-72) from the floor, 40.7 percent (11-of-27) from behind the 3-point line and 77.8 percent (7-of-9) at the free throw line.
Utah State returns to the Dee Glen Smith Spectrum for its regular season finale against New Mexico (14-16, 5-12 MW) on Thursday, Feb. 27, at 7 p.m. USU will recognize its three seniors,
Marlene Aniambossou,
Hailey Bassett and Jensen-Baker prior to tip-off as part of Senior Night.
