LOGAN, Utah – Without the services of junior all-arounder
Leighton Varnadore, Utah State's women's gymnastics team won all four event titles and the all-around crown as the Aggies defeated UC Davis 195.725-193.700 on Friday night at the Dee Glen Smith Spectrum.
"We had to sit Leighton out tonight – she has been our top all-arounder all year – but it was a great opportunity for other people to step up and come into the lineups," said third-year USU head coach
Amy Smith. "We kind of shook some things up tonight, but the team did a really good of being resilient and adaptable in those moments. They stepped up and did a good job.
"Overall, it wasn't our best night and not exactly what we are capable of doing, but this meet helped us tonight, so we can't be mad about it."
Sofi Sullivan won the all-around with a 39.050. The native of Manhattan Beach, Calif., also won the beam title with a 9.925. She now has seven titles on the season, which ranks 12th in a single season for a freshman.
