Three Utah State Football Players Invited to 2020 NFL Scouting Combine

Utah State’s Tipa Galiea, Jordan Love and David Woodward have all been invited to the 2020 NFL Scouting Combine, which will begin on Sunday, Feb. 22 in Indianapolis, Ind. The combine will run through Monday, March 2.

LOGAN, Utah – Utah State's Tipa Galiea, Jordan Love and David Woodward have all been invited to the 2020 NFL Scouting Combine, which will begin on Sunday, Feb. 22 in Indianapolis, Ind. The combine will run through Monday, March 2.
 
In all, 337 players were invited to this year's NFL Scouting Combine, including 17 quarterbacks and 44 linebackers.
 
Love, a 6-foot-4, 224-pound quarterback, most recently played in the 2020 Senior Bowl. Love earlier announced he would forgo his senior season and enter the 2020 NFL Draft.
 
Love earned honorable mention all-Mountain West honors this past season as he was 293-of-473 (.619) passing for 3,402 yards with 20 touchdowns and 17 interceptions.
 
For his career, Love set school records with 9,003 yards of total offense, 12 career 300-yard passing games and four completions of at least 80 yards. He finished his career 689-of-1,125 (.612) passing for 8,600 yards with 60 touchdowns and 29 interceptions, and ranks second all-time in school history in passing yards, completions and attempts, tied for second all-time in touchdown passes, and is third in completion percentage. He was 21-11 (.656) as USU's starting quarterback, which are the second-most wins in school history, and he is also second all-time in school history with three-career 400-yard passing games.
 
Galeai, a 6-5, 235-pound linebacker, earned second-team all-Mountain West honors this year as he was tied for first on the team with 5.0 sacks and second with 9.0 tackles for loss as part of his 55 total tackles. For his career, Galeai started 23 of the 24 games he appeared in and recorded 112 tackles, which included 15.5 sacks and 22.5 tackles for loss.
 
Woodward, a 6-2, 235-pound linebacker, also announced he would forgo his senior season and enter the 2020 NFL Draft.
 
Woodward had a breakout season as a sophomore in 2018, as he started all 12 games he played in and finished the season with 134 tackles (52-solo, 82-assist), which included 5.0 sacks and 12.0 tackles for loss, to go along with two forced fumbles, two interceptions, three pass breakups and four quarterback hurries. Woodward finished the 2018 season ranking first in the MW and 11th in the nation with 134 tackles (11.2 pg). He was also eighth in the MW in forced fumbles with two (0.15 pg), ninth in the MW in tackles for loss with 12.5 (1.0 pg), and 10th in the MW in sacks with five (0.4 pg).
 
As a sophomore, Woodward graded out as the top linebacker in the country at 91.6 percent according to PFF, as he ranked fourth in the nation with a 92.4 grade against the run and fourth in coverage at 90.5 and only missed two tackles all season. He also had eight double-digit tackle outings during the year and was one of just 20 players in the nation to have double-digit tackles in at least six games. Woodward finished his sophomore season with a then-career high 20 tackles against Colorado State.
 
In just seven games in 2019, Woodward was second on the team with 93 tackles, which includes 2.0 sacks and 5.0 tackles for loss. He also had a team-best four forced fumbles as he returned one of those eight yards for his second-career touchdown. During his seven games this season, Woodward recorded double-digits in tackles six times, including a career-high 24 stops at Wake Forest as he was named the Chuck Bednarik National Defensive Player of the Week. He also had 1.0 sacks and a career-best 3.5 tackles for loss to go along with two forced fumbles against the Demon Deacons as those 24 tackles are the most in the nation at the Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) level this season. 
 
For his career, Woodward had a team best 256 tackles, which included 8.0 sacks and 20.5 tackles for loss, to go along with six forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries. Overall, he posted 15-career double-digit tackle games.
 
The 2020 NFL Scouting Combine is the annual job fair for prospective new NFL players. For six days at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, players are put through a series of drills, tests and interviews with more than 600 NFL personnel including head coaches, general managers and scouts. The 2020 NFL Draft is slated for April 23-25.
 
Beginning Sunday, Feb. 22, the NFL Network (Comcast Ch. 270, Dish Network Ch. 154, DirecTV Ch. 212) and NFL.com will broadcast live from Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, providing an up-close look at the 337 NFL prospects looking to take the next step in their careers. Live coverage of on-field workouts begins Friday, Feb. 28 at 2 p.m. (MT) with the quarterbacks, wide receivers and tight ends, and continues with the running backs, offensive linemen and specialists on Saturday, March 2, the linebackers and defensive linemen on Saturday, Feb. 29, and defensive backs on Sunday, March 1. Coverage of workouts begins each day at 7 a.m. (MT).
