SANTA BARBARA, Calif. - Utah State men's tennis (3-8) lost, 4-0, to UC Santa Barbara (6-9) in a road match in Santa Barbara, Calif., on Friday.

UC Santa Barbara started the match off securing the doubles point after juniors Victor Krustev and Joseph Rotheram defeated junior Felipe Acosta and freshman Javier Ruiz, 6-4, at the No. 1 spot. Senior Sergiu Bucur and freshman Arvid Hjalte lost, 6-4, at the No. 2 spot against senior Joseph Guillin and sophomore Alejandro Vedri. Freshmen Christian Holmes and Roko Savin were tied at 4-4 at the No. 3 position, but the match was left unfinished as the Gauchos had secured the doubles point.

In singles play, Bucur lost, 6-2, 6-3, to Krustev at the No. 2 spot. Ruiz also lost in straight sets, 6-3, 6-1, at the No. 3 spot to Vedri. Hjalte lost, 6-4, 6-3, to Rotheram at the No. 4 spot. The remaining matches were left unfinished as UC Santa Barbara took the 4-0 win.

Utah State will next take on Drake (3-15) in a neutral site match in Santa Barbara, Calif., on Sunday, March 8, at 9 a.m. (MT).
