LOGAN, Utah – Utah State head women's basketball coach Kayla Ard announced the signing of Jessica Chatman (Ridgefield, Wash.) to the 2020-21 roster on Wednesday.

Chatman, a 6-foot guard/forward, will join the team as a graduate transfer after earning a bachelor's degree in elementary education from Southern Utah. She played for the Thunderbirds for two seasons (2018-20). As a junior in the 2019-20 season, Chatman appeared in all 31 games, including 23 starts, and averaged 6.4 points and 4.9 rebounds per game. As a redshirt sophomore in 2018-19, Chatman saw action in 23 games, making 13 starts, and averaged 6.9 points and 4.2 rebounds per outing. She began her collegiate career at BYU in the 2016-17 season where she appeared in 19 games, averaging 3.3 minutes per contest.

"We are very happy to have Jess joining the team," Ard said. "She brings instant maturity and leadership to our squad. Her infectious positive attitude will be an asset to our program on and off the court. Her skill set on the court fits our offensive system well and will give her and the team a great opportunity to excel."

Chatman was a four-year letterwinner at Union High School in Camas, Wash. She was named first team all-district and first team all-region twice, and earned second team all-league honors once. As a senior, Chatman averaged 16.0 points and 10.5 rebounds per game. She also played for the Oregon Elite club team.
