Utah State Men's Tennis Faces Utah, Weber State, Montana State on Day Two of Utah Invitational
 
SALT LAKE CITY, Utah --- Continuing the round-robin format of the Utah Invitational on Friday, the Utah State men's tennis team faced off versus doubles teams from Utah and Weber State plus singles opponents from Montana State.
 
In doubles play against Utah, junior David Cierny and Bodin Zarkovic took out Francisco Bastias and Bruno Caula in a 6-2 victory. Sophomore Jack Ninteman and freshman Sergi Mico Fenollar also joined the winner's circle with a 6-4 victory over Jayson Blando and Mathias Gavelin. Juniors Javier Ruiz and Roko Savin came just short of the three-for-three Aggie sweep, falling 6-4 against Michael Blando and Bruno Krenn.
 
Against the Wildcats, Ruiz and Savin bounced back with a 6-2 win over WSU's Jourdan Coutinho and Matteo Savio. Mico Fenollar and Ninteman pushed Tristan Sarap and Elyes Marouani to a tiebreak but ultimately fell, 7-6 (1). Cierny and Zarkovic also came up short in their match versus Sebastian Buxman and Arthur Serafim, 6-2.
 
The Aggies faced off versus opponents from Montana State in singles play. Mico Fenollar continued an impressive day by outlasting MSU's Jameison Nathan in a first-set tiebreak to go on to win 7-6 (6), 6-1. Senior Felipe Acosta also scored a straight-set victory over Brad Buckland, 6-3, 6-3, as did Ninteman witha 6-3, 6-4 win over Nejc Sitar.
 
Zarkovic retired in his match against Matej Panik after a first set victory, falling 4-6, 7-6 (2), 3-1, retired. Ruiz also fell in three sets versus Daan Van Dijk, 6-1, 5-7, 6-3. Chavez pushed Manuel Monteiro in a first-set tiebreak but was unable to take a set in a 7-6 (3), 6-2 defeat.
 
Doubles and singles play is scheduled to continue at the Utah Invitational tomorrow.
