LOGAN, Utah - Utah State returns to the Pentagon in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, for a neutral-site matchup with Iowa on Saturday, Dec. 18, at 7 p.m. (MT). The Aggies opened at the Pentagon for the 2020-21 season, playing in the Bad Boy Mowers Crossover Classic.
Opening Tips
• Iowa leads the all-time series between the two schools, 2-1, however, the Aggies won the most recent installment, a 75-62 victory at the South Padre Island Invitational during the 2007-08 season.
• This season, Utah State is a perfect 4-0 in neutral-site games with victories over Richmond (85-74), Penn (87-79), New Mexico State (85-58) and Oklahoma (73-70).
• Several Aggies will be appearing on the court in which they made their respective collegiate debuts, including sophomore guards Steven Ashworth and Max Shulga and sophomore center Szymon Zapala.
• Utah State is shooting 48.6 percent (317-of-652) from the floor this year, the best mark since the Aggies shot 48.8 percent (941-of-1,928) during the 2009-10 season. USU has shot 50 percent or better from the floor in six games this season.
• Utah State is third in the nation with 20.2 assists per game. The Aggies have recorded 20 or more assists in six games this season. USU is also among the national leaders in assist-to-turnover ratio (1.53, 19th) and field goal percentage (.486, 24th).
• Utah State has had 11 different players score in double figures this season and six players who have each scored 20 or more points in a game.
• The Aggies are coming off of a game in which three different players scored 20 or more as Ashworth logged a career-high 27 points, followed by senior guard Brock Miller and graduate forward Brandon Horvath, each with 20.
• Ashworth knocked down seven 3-point buckets against Weber State, tying for the sixth-most in a single game in USU history.
• Utah State senior forward Justin Bean is the only player in the MW averaging a double-double this season (19.4/11.1) and leads the league in rebounding (11.1), double-doubles (7), offensive rebounds (3.55), defensive rebounds (7.55) and field goal percentage (.638).
• Bean is second in the nation in double-doubles (7) and ranks among the nation's best in rebounds per game (5th), defensive rebounds per game (7th), field goal percentage (14th) and offensive rebounds per game (14th).
• Junior guard Rylan Jones is 12th in the nation with 6.0 assists per game, the most by an Aggie since Kris Clark averaged 6.4 during the 2007-08 season.
• Over the last two games, senior guard RJ Eytle-Rock is averaging 12.5 points and shooting 52.9 percent (9-of-17) from the floor and 58.3 percent (7-of-12) from behind the 3-point line. The Aggies are unbeaten this season (3-0) when Eytle-Rock scores in double figures.
• Miller's 20 points against Weber State marked a season high as the Aggies are 33-9 over the course of his career when Miller scores in double figures.
