LOGAN, Utah – Utah State softball has announced its 2022 schedule, featuring five preseason tournaments, as well as games against four in-state rivals and a full slate of Mountain West competition.
Utah State will play against teams from nine different conferences in 2022. The Aggies will face three first-time opponents in Boston, Stony Brook and Yale.
The Aggies will open the 2022 season by competing in the UC Santa Barbara-hosted Gaucho Classic from Feb. 11-13. There, USU will play North Dakota State three times and UCSB twice.
Utah State will then play a three-game series at Dixie State on Feb. 19-20, in St. George, Utah. USU closes out the month of February at the Santa Clara-hosted Silicon Valley Classic I from Feb. 25-27. There, the Aggies will play games against Sacramento State, Cal Poly, St. Mary's (California) and Santa Clara.
USU opens the month of March with back-to-back California tournaments, beginning with the San Diego-hosted San Diego Classic from March 4-6. There, Utah State will play Stony Brook, Long Beach State, Boston, UC San Diego and Yale. The Aggies will then compete in the Silicon Valley Classic II in San Jose and Santa Clara from March 11-13. Utah State will play two games against both UC Davis and Santa Clara, along with a single contest against conference foe San José State.
Utah State will open its home schedule by hosting the Aggie Classic from March 18-19, with games against Maine and Idaho State.
USU has a home-and-home series scheduled with Utah Valley. The Aggies will host the Wolverines in Logan on March 22.
Utah State's final non-conference matchups will be against Weber State in Logan on March 29, at Idaho State on April 19, at UVU on April 27 and at BYU on May 10.
Mountain West play will feature three-game series against each league opponent. USU will open its league run at New Mexico from March 25-27. The Aggies are set to host Colorado State (April 1-3), Nevada (April 14-16), Boise State (April 29-May 1) and San José State (May 12-14). Road conference match-ups include Fresno State (April 8-10), UNLV (April 22-24) and San Diego State (May 6-8).
The Mountain West does not sponsor a conference softball tournament. Qualifying teams will begin postseason play at NCAA Regionals the weekend of May 19-22, with Super Regionals following, May 26-29. Both rounds will be played at regional sites across the country. The 2021 Women's College World Series will be played June 1-8, at Hall of Fame Stadium in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
