Box Score MISSOULA, Montana -- Utah State women's basketball (5-5, 0-0 MW) lost, 103-80, to Montana (9-2, 2-0 Big Sky) in Missoula on Monday night.
The game stayed close throughout the opening quarter as the Aggies trailed by five at 23-18 at the end of the first. USU trimmed the Montana lead to three at 27-24 with 7:39 to go in the second after a 3-pointer from sophomore guard Olivia Wikstrom, but the Lady Griz would control the momentum to head into the halftime break with the 48-33 lead.
Senior guard Kaylin Randhawa came out hot for the Aggies in the third quarter, scoring 16 of USU's 23 points in the period. Back-to-back Randhawa triples would make it a seven-point game at 53-46 with 7:13 remaining in the third. However, that would be as close as it would get as Montana went onto win, 103-80.
Utah State was led by Randhawa with 20 points and senior guard Manna Mensah with 11. Junior guard/forward Adryana Quezada nearly registered a double-double with eight points and nine rebounds.
Utah State ended the night shooting 36.8 percent (28-of-76) from the floor, 33.3 percent (9-of-27) from behind the arc and 83.3 percent (15-of-18) at the free throw line. Montana shot 58.5 percent (38-of-65) from the field, 63.6 percent (14-of-22) from behind the 3-point line and 86.7 percent (13-of-15) at the free throw line.
USU opens Mountain West play against Air Force (6-4, 0-0 MW) inside the Dee Glen Smith Spectrum on Friday, Dec. 31, at 3 p.m.
