LOGAN, Utah - Utah State men's basketball (14-7, 11-4 MW) continues Mountain West play this week with a pair of home games against Nevada (14-7, 9-5 MW) on Friday, Feb. 26, at 7 p.m., and Sunday, Feb. 28, at 5 p.m. Both games will be televised on Fox Sports 1 (Xfinity Ch. 265/HD691, DirecTV Ch. 219, DISH Ch. 150). USU is 37-23 all-time against the Wolf Pack, including a 21-5 home record.
Opening Tips
• Utah State is 38-13 in Mountain West play under head coach
Craig Smith and is 2-1 against Nevada during his tenure. Overall, Utah State leads the all-time series with the Wolf Pack, 37-23, and has won each of the last two games. Queta is the first Aggie to record back-to-back games with 30 or more points and 10 or more rebounds since Marvin Roberts during the 1968-69 season.
• Queta leads the Mountain West in field goal percentage (.584), 2-point field goals (122), defensive rebounds (138), total rebounds (194), blocks (62), blocks per game (3.0), player efficiency rating (30.7), effective field goal percentage (.584), defensive rebound percentage (26.6), total rebound percentage (18.8), block percentage (13.0), defensive rating (80.4), defensive win shares (2.0), win shares per 40 minutes (.263), defensive box plus/minus (6.7) and box plus/minus (12.0).
• Queta is one of 10 semifinalists, and one of just three outside the Power 5, for the Naismith Defensive Player of the Year Award and ranks second in the nation in overall defensive rating (80.4) and defensive win shares (2.0). Queta leads the nation in defensive box plus/minus (6.7). Queta ranks fourth in the nation with 62 total blocks and fifth in the nation with 3.0 blocks per game.
• Freshman guards
Rollie Worster and
Steven Ashworth have each led the Aggies in assists in eight games this year, the most by an individual player this season.
• Utah State has outrebounded every opponent this season and is 66-15 under Smith when winning the battle of the boards. The Aggies lead the MW and are third in the nation with a plus-10.4 rebounding margin.
• Utah State has pulled down double-digit offensive rebounds in all but four games this season and leads the MW with 12.9 offensive rebounds per game in league play. The Aggies have scored 247 second-chance points this season, making up more than 15 percent of their total points.
• Utah State has scored 708 points in the paint this season, outscoring all but four opponents from inside. The 624 points represents 45.2 percent of the Aggies' total points this season.
• As dominant as the Utah State frontcourt has been this year, the Aggies' backcourt has been equally as important with USU carrying a perfect 14-0 record with the starting backcourt outscores its counterparts.
