LOGAN, Utah – Utah State volleyball is set to open its postponed 2020 season this weekend as it welcomes Wyoming to the Wayne Estes Center for a pair of matches.
The Aggies will open the Rob Neilson era taking on the Cowgirls on Friday, Feb. 5, at 6 p.m. Action will continue with a 3 p.m. match on Saturday, Feb. 6.
In order to adhere to university COVID-19 protocols, volleyball matches played in the Estes Center will be limiting attendance to family members of players only. Other matches this season will be played in the Dee Glen Smith Spectrum, where higher numbers of fans will be permitted.
Both of this weekend's matches will be available for fans to watch live online. Friday's contest will be streamed on the Mountain West Network, while Saturday's will be played via Facebook Live on the USU Volleyball Facebook page. Live stats will also be available through SIDEARM. Links to all options will be posted on the team social media pages, and are all listed on the Utah State Athletics website.
Utah State returns six letterwinners from the 2019 season. Sophomore outside hitter Hailey Cuff averaged a team-best 2.13 kills per set in 2019, while junior middle blocker Corinne Larsen led the team with a .206 (146-60-418) attack percentage. Sophomore setter Kalena Vaivai averaged 3.68 assists per set in her debut season, while sophomore libero Grace DuBay brings back 3.14 digs per set. The Aggies had a strong year on the block in 2019, led by senior opposite side hitter Bailey Downing with 126.
Wyoming is led by two returning all-Mountain West performers in senior middle blocker Jackie McBride and junior outside hitter KC McMahon. McBride was second on the team with 310 kills last season, averaging 2.61 per set. McMahon led the Cowgirls with 361 kills last year.
