CHENEY, Wash. – Utah State men's tennis wrapped up its weekend of competition in a 6-1 win at Eastern Washington Sunday.
Redshirt freshman transfer
Jack Ninteman made his USU debut Sunday, playing to a 6-2 win at No. 3 doubles with
Roko Savin and a straight-set victory (7-5, 6-3) in the No. 6 singles spot.
The Aggies worked quickly through doubles competition, sweeping the Eagles and dropping just four total games.
In singles play, Utah State posted four straight-set victories over Eastern Washington. In the No. 1 spot, fifth-year
Sergiu Bucur defeated Martin Bats (6-2, 6-2), while senior
Felipe Acosta topped Manuel Balce (6-1, 6-3) at No. 2. Sophomore
Javier Ruiz also posted a sweep at the No. 4 position, defeating Erik Sarlvik (6-1, 6-1). Savin defeated Wout Doumen (6-4, 4-6, 10-3) at the No. 3 position, while freshman
Keanu Rigby suffered the sole loss (4-6, 6-4, 8-10) of the day for the Aggies.
Utah State returns home next week to host Weber State. The Aggies and Wildcats will meet on Sunday, Feb. 14, at noon.
