SAN DIEGO, Calif. – Utah State volleyball (2-6, 2-6 MW) opened its series at San Diego State (3-8, 3-8 MW) in dominant fashion Thursday, posting a 3-0 victory over the Aztecs.
Utah State took the first set, 25-23, winning its second first set of the season. The hot streak continued through the second set, which the Aggies won, 25-13. USU then led wire-to-wire in the third, securing the match victory with a 25-19 win.
The 3-0 sweep is the first by Utah State since Oct. 27, 2018, when the Aggies swept a home match against Nevada. Additionally, Thursday marked the first-ever road victory over San Diego State for the Aggies. The match was played at the University of San Diego, as a water leak left the court at SDSU unplayable.
