LAS VEGAS, Nev. - The No. 2-seeded Utah State Aggies will face the No. 3-seeded Colorado State Rams in the semifinals of the Mountain West Tournament on Friday, March 12, at 10 p.m. (MT).
The Aggies and Rams split a two-game series in Logan earlier in the year as Utah State posted an 83-64 victory in the first game before losing the second, 84-76. In the first game between the two teams, Utah State junior guard
Brock Miller led the Aggies in scoring, turning in 20 points, followed by a double-double effort by junior center
Neemias Queta with 18 points and 12 rebounds. Senior forward
Alphonso Anderson rounded out the double-digit scorers, logging 12 points off the bench.
In the second game, Miller, Queta and Anderson all recorded double figures again, finishing with 14, 13 and 10 points, respectively. Freshman guards
Rollie Worster and
Steven Ashworth also scored in double figures for the Aggies, scoring 12 and 10 points, respectively. Despite the scoring output, Colorado State finished the game shooting 50.0 percent (25-of-50) from the floor to hand Utah State one of only two losses inside the Dee Glen Smith Spectrum.
Utah State leads the all-time series against Colorado State 65-40 and has won six of the last seven meetings.
The Aggies and Rams have faced off in the Mountain West Tournament on a pair of occasions, with Utah State posting victories in each contest. USU recorded a 73-69 win during the 2014 MW Tournament and a 76-65 victory during the 2018 tournament. Utah State is 16-6 all-time in conference semifinals, including a 2-1 record in the Mountain West.
