LOGAN, Utah – Utah State head women's basketball coach
Kayla Ard announced the signing of Olivia Wikstrom (Bainbridge Island, Wash.) to the 2021-22 roster on Wednesday.
Wikstrom, a 6-foot-1 guard, will join the team as a sophomore who is immediately eligible to compete after transferring from Northern Colorado. She played for the Bears during her freshman season in 2020-21. Last year, Wikstrom played all 26 contests while making two starts. She went for a season-high 17 points on Dec. 4 against Abilene Christian, while bringing down a season-high seven boards at Sacramento State on Feb. 11. On the year, she shot 39.6 percent (36-of-91) from the field.
"Olivia fits our offensive system so well," Ard said. "She is a score-first guard who is over six-feet tall and who plays extremely hard. She has no fear in her game, and we are very excited about her future here at Utah State."
Wikstrom prepped at Bainbridge HS in Bainbridge Island, Wash., where she was the program's all-time leading scorer (boys and girls) with 1,796 career points. She also holds school records for career steals (263), points in a game (44), steals in a game (12), points in a season (597) and average points per game (26.0). Wikstrom earned all-state honors her junior and senior seasons, and was the two-time Kitsap County Player of the Year.
