LOGAN, Utah – Utah State's golf team returns to action at the inaugural UC San Diego Invitational on Monday and Tuesday, March 22-23, at La Costa in Carlsbad, Calif.
The eight-team field will take on the par-72, 7,151-yard La Costa (Champions Course). The 54-hole tournament tees off at 8:30 a.m. (MT) both days, with 36 holes being played on Monday. Course details can be found

The Aggies' lineup for the event includes fifth year
Chase Lansford (No. 1), senior captain
Colten Cordingley (No. 2), redshirt junior
Jesse Henderson (No. 3), senior
Andy Hess (No. 4) and freshman
Javier Vazquez (No. 5).
Joining the Aggies will be Cal State Northridge, San Diego State, Southern Utah, UC Davis, UC Irvine, UC Santa Barbara, and host UC San Diego. The field will consist of 43 golfers made up of 30 team players and 13 individuals. Six of the eight squads will be in contention for the team title, while San Diego State and UC Davis will only have individuals competing.
This is the first tournament hosted by UC San Diego in over two years, as well as its first home event as an NCAA Division I team.
Utah State has two tournaments under its best thus far in 2021 – the Southern Utah-hosted Pizza Hut-Pat Hicks Thunderbird Invitational (tied for fourth out of 12 teams) and the South Dakota State-hosted Jackrabbit Invitational (third out of nine teams).
Cordingley and Lansford were the top-two finishes for the Aggies in their season-opening event at the Thunderbird Invitational, which was held Feb. 6-8 at the Sunbrook Golf Course in St. George. Cordingley ended with a career-best 54-hole score of 9-under 207 (68-68-71) to tie for third. He played his last three holes of the final round at 3-under as he made birdie on each one. Lansford tied for 10th at 5-under 211, which included a second-round 7-under 65.
Lansford tied for 12th at the Jackrabbit Invitational as he ended the tournament with a 54-hole total of 1-over 217 (72-73-72).
