LOGAN, Utah – After nearly three weeks away from competition, Utah State softball (8-9, 0-0 MW) returns to action with four games this week.
The Aggies begin the week with a road game at Weber State (9-11) on Tuesday, March 23, at 4 p.m. USU will then begin Mountain West play with a home series against Fresno State (15-6, 3-0 MW). The Aggies and Bulldogs will play a doubleheader on Saturday, March 27, at noon, and a single game on Sunday, March 28, at noon.
This weekend's games against Fresno State will all be streamed live on the Mountain West Network. Live stats will also be provided through SIDEARM. At this point, there will not be live stats or video available for the game against Weber State. Links to each option are posted on the team schedule on the USU Athletics website, and will be available on the social media pages prior to each game.
Weber State welcomes the Aggies with a 9-11 record, coming off a four-game split at Dixie State. The Wildcats are batting .267 (146-of-547) on the year, led by freshman outfielder Mia Rushton, who is hitting .333 (22-of-66). Weber State has a combined ERA of 4.47, with six pitchers having seen time in the circle. Mary Kay Amicone is in her eighth year as the head coach at Weber State, where she has an overall record of 208-157-1. The Aggies lead the all-time series against the Wildcats, 37-17, including a 2-0 win earlier this season.
Fresno State comes to Logan with a 15-6 overall record, including a 3-0 record to start the conference season with a sweep over San José State. As a team, the Bulldogs are hitting .273 (138-of-506), with senior catcher Hayleigh Galvan hitting a team-high .370 (17-of-46). Fresno State's pitching staff has a league-best ERA of 2.09, with senior Hailey Dolcini leading the group with a 1.19 ERA and 9-3 record. Linda Garza is in her third season at the helm of the Fresno State program, where she has an all-time record of 124-70. The Bulldogs lead the all-time series against USU, 46-14.
For the Aggies, senior outfielder Kayla Fielder leads the team at the plate, batting .375 (15-of-40). In the circle, senior Delaney Hull leads with a 2.89 ERA in her six appearances. As a team, USU is hitting .241 (110-of-457) and has a combined ERA of 4.05.
