USU Volleyball Set for Pair of Mountain West Matches

LOGAN, Utah – Utah State volleyball (3-8, 3-8 MW) continues Mountain West play this weekend with a pair of matches as it hosts Nevada (3-9, 3-9 MW) on Thursday, March 25, at 5:30 p.m., and plays at Colorado State (6-5, 6-5 MW) on Saturday, March 27, at 1 p.m.

Utah State and Nevada's match will be played in the Dee Glen Smith Spectrum. Fans will be permitted to attend Thursday's competition. Tickets are available at the USU Ticket Office, online at utahstateaggies.com or by calling 1 (888) USTATE-1. Each of this weekend's matches will be available for fans to watch live online via the Mountain West Network. Live stats will also be available through SIDEARM. Links to all options will be posted on the team's social media pages, and are all listed on the Utah State Athletics website.

The Utah State offense is led by junior outside hitter Kristy Frank, who is averaging 2.84 kills per set. Junior middle blocker Corinne Larsen is hitting a team-high .284 (92-31-215). Sophomore setter Kalena Vaivai is averaging 7.82 assists per set. Defensively, freshman libero/defensive specialist Abby Peterson has a team-best 3.71 digs per set, while Larsen leads the team with 1.10 blocks per set. As a team, Utah State is hitting .159 (458-237-1394) on the year, averaging 13.90 digs and 2.20  blocks per set. 

Nevada makes the trip to Logan with a 3-9 record, coming off a pair of 3-0 losses to Boise State. Senior middle blocker Brianna Souza leads the team hitting .255 (89-28-239) on the year, while freshman outside hitter Reka Monteleone is averaging a team-high 2.84 kills per set. Defensively, junior libero/defensive specialist Kalia Spevak is averaging 3.19 digs per set, while sophomore middle blocker Sydney Petersen leads the group with 1.33 blocks per set. As a team, Nevada is hitting .170 (470-230-1412), averaging 11.70 digs and 2.60 blocks per set. 

Colorado State welcomes the Aggies with a 6-5 record. The Rams, who are coming off a 3-1 win over Fresno State, will host Boise State on Thursday. Junior middle blocker/opposite side hitter Sasha Colombo is leading the CSU attack, hitting .337 (77-19-172), while redshirt senior outside hitter Breana Runnels is averaging 4.05 kills per set. Senior defensive specialist Alexa Roumeliotis is leading the team with 5.05 digs per set, with freshman middle blocker Naeemah Weathers averaging a team-high 0.73 blocks per set. As a team, Colorado State is hitting .226 (526-201-1436) on the season, averaging 14.71 digs and 1.76 blocks per set.
