Box Score FORT COLLINS, Colo. - Utah State junior forward Jordan Foraker scored the Aggies' first goal of their delayed 2020 season, but two second-half goals by Colorado State led to a 2-1 defeat for USU in Fort Collins on Sunday afternoon.
Utah State (0-2-0) opened the scoring in the 11th minute as the Aggies built from the back and played a ball into the midfield. From there, freshman Whitney Lopez made a quick pass to the feet of Kami Warner and the senior midfielder placed a perfect ball to a streaking Jordan Foraker just outside the 18. Foraker made her first touch to the inside and drilled the ball through the legs of the Colorado State keeper for her first goal of the year and second of her career.
The 1-0 advantage held throughout the rest of the first half as Utah State recorded four shots to the Rams' three, and six corner kicks to Colorado State's one.
The Rams (1-1-0) came out the aggressors in the second half, recording seven shots to the Aggies' five. Colorado State equalized the game in the 74th minute when a penalty was called on Utah State in the box. CSU's Taylor Steinke converted on the ensuing PK and a second goal by the Rams in the 83rd minute gave Colorado State the 2-1 victory.
Utah State's best chances in the second half came from the feet of freshman Adree Johnson and senior Ashley Cardozo. Johnson's shot came in the 68th minute from the right wing, testing a diving CSU keeper. Cardozo's shot went just over the goal in the 77th minute as the senior made a crossing run from inside the 18.
