Utah State Softball Set for Week of Games Against BYU and UNLV

LOGAN, Utah – Utah State softball (10-14, 2-4 MW) returns to action with four games this week. The Aggies will play a mid-week in-state game before hosting a Mountain West series.

First, USU will play at BYU (16-13) on Tuesday, April 6, at 6 p.m. USU will then host UNLV (16-9, 5-1 MW). The Aggies and Rebels will play a doubleheader on Saturday, April 10, starting at noon, and a single game on Sunday, April 11, at 11 a.m. 

Tuesday's game at BYU will be televised and streamed online on BYUtv. The weekend series against UNLV will be streamed via Facebook Live on the Utah State Athletics Facebook page. Live stats will also be provided for each of this week's games. Links to each option are posted on the team schedule on the USU Athletics website, and will be available on the social media pages prior to each game. 

BYU welcomes the Aggies to Provo with a 16-13 record and having won its last five games. The Cougars are batting .275 (206-of-748) as a team, with freshman outfielder Violet Zavodnik leading the team hitting .385 (30-of-78).With five pitchers having seen time in the circle, BYU has a team ERA of 3.53. Senior Autumn Moffat-Korth leads the group with a 2.86 ERA in 105.1 innings of work. Gordon Eakin is in his 19th season as the head coach at BYU, where he has an all-time record of 701-344. BYU leads the all-time series against the Aggies, 45-33.

UNLV makes the trip to Logan with a 16-9 overall record, including a 5-1 Mountain West ledger. The Rebels are coming off a long break, as their series with San José State was canceled. As a team, UNLV is batting .276 (176-of-638), led by sophomore outfielder Maddie Schmidt who is hitting .358 (29-of-81). The Rebel pitching staff has a combined ERA of 3.40, with junior Jenny Bressler leading the group with a 2.08 ERA in 18 appearances. Kristie Fox is in her fourth season at the helm of the UNLV program, where she has an overall record of 106-48. The Rebels lead the all-time series against the Aggies, 31-27.

For the Aggies, junior shortstop Lexi Orozco leads the team at the plate, batting .320 (24-of-75). In the circle, senior Delaney Hull leads with a 3.78 ERA in her eight appearances. As a team, USU is hitting .250 (164-of-657) and has a combined ERA of 4.12.
