SEATTLE, Washington — Utah State men's tennis bounced back in their second match in Seattle with a 6-1 win over Idaho.

The Aggies started strong in doubles play. Sophomore Jack Ninteman and junior Javier Ruiz combined for a 6-3 win over Idaho's Mario Duran Garza and Matteo Masala. After juniors David Cierny and Bodin Zarkovic fell on court one, it was seniors Felipe Acosta and Maksymilian Raupuk who clinched the doubles point for USU. The duo came back from 40-0 with the Vandals serving for the decisive game in the 6-4 win over Alejandro Salvador Civera and Adam Taylor.

Moving to singles play, freshman Sergi Mico Fenollar quickly dispatched Duran Garza in a 6-3, 6-2 victory. Cierny also made short work of his opponent, defeating Francisco Bascon, 6-1, 6-4. Acosta then clinched the match for the Aggies with a 6-2, 6-4 win over Bruno Casino.

Zarkovic also entered the winner's circle, outlasting Masala in a second-set tiebreak for the 6-3, 7-6 victory. Raupuk made it five straight-set victories for Utah State with a 7-6, 6-3 win over Vivek Ramesh. Ruiz was unable to complete the sweep, losing the third-set super-tiebreak to Salvador Civera in a 6-3, 5-7, 11-9 loss.

Utah State will complete its three-game road trip against an in-state foe, taking on Weber State next Saturday, Feb. 5, in Ogden, Utah.
