LOGAN, Utah - Utah State opens February with a rematch against Air Force on Tuesday, Feb. 1, at 7 p.m.
Opening Tips
• Utah State leads the all-time series against the Falcons, 21-7, and is a perfect 12-0 in games played in Logan.
• Utah State held Air Force to 49 points in the first meeting between the two schools, tied for the fewest points by an Aggie opponent this season. USU also held Nevada to 49 points in its last game out.
• Over the last two games, Utah State has knocked down 20 3-point field goals after recording 21 total 3-point baskets over its first six conference games.
• After opening the conference season shooting 43.3 percent (143-of-330) from the floor and 19.3 percent (21-of-109) from behind the 3-point line, USU is now knocking down 49.6 percent (57-of-115) from the floor and 39.2 percent (20-of-51) from behind the 3-point line over the last two games.
• That success from the floor has also paid dividends in scoring margins as the Aggies were outscored by 2.6 points per game over their first six league contests and have now outscored each of their last two foes by 23.5 points per game.
• Utah State has recorded five or more steals in all but one conference game this season and have a 26-point advantage in points off turnovers in MW contests. The Aggies have recorded as many or more points off turnovers than their opponents in each of the last six games.
• Utah State will be playing three games in five days this week, totaling four games in seven days and five games in 11 days dating back to last week.
• Utah State has been without its full complement of starters in each of the last seven games: Miller (7), Jones (3), Eytle-Rock (2).
• Utah State's five conference losses this season have come by a combined 19 points and a scoring margin of -3.8. All have been one-possession games going into the final four minutes.
• Utah State is sixth in the nation in total assists (373), ninth in assists per game (17.8) and 25th in assist-to-turnover ratio (1.40).
• Sophomore guard
Steven Ashworth has locked up his counterpart over the last three games, holding Boise State's Marcus Shaver Jr. to 1-of-11 shooting, including 1-for-5 from 3, San Diego State's Trey Pulliam to 0-for-4 shooting from the floor (0-for-1 from 3) and Nevada's Grant Sherfield to 1-for-12 from the floor, including 0-for-3 from deep.
• Forwards
Brandon Horvath and
Justin Bean are the only two players for Utah State to appear and start in every game this season. Ashworth and junior center
Trevin Dorius are the only other two Aggies to appear in every game for USU this season.
• Bean is sixth in the nation in double-doubles (13), 10th in total rebounds (208), 11th in defensive rebounds per game (7.29), 15th in rebounding (9.9) and 21st in total field goals made (147).
• Bean needs one more point to break into the top-25 in USU history in career scoring.
