LOGAN, Utah – Utah State grad senior center Chandler Dolphin is one of 81 official nominees for the 2022 Burlsworth Trophy, which is awarded annually to college football's most outstanding player that began his collegiate career as a walk-on.

Dolphin has started in all eight games for the Aggies this season and played in a team-best 581 snaps, grading out at 86 percent, including a season-high 91 percent at BYU. He has a team-high 22 knockdowns and has not allowed a sack on the year.

As a junior in 2021, Dolphin played in 12 games, making 11 starts at center. He played in 819 snaps and graded out at 82 percent. The native of Sandy, Utah, finished the season with 31.0 knockdowns, which were tied for the second-most on the team.

Dolphin graduated from Utah State in the fall of 2021 with a bachelor's degree in marketing and is pursuing his master's in business administration. He is a two-time academic All-Mountain West honoree and has twice been named an MW Scholar-Athlete.

In the award's 13th year, the trophy is named in honor of Brandon Burlsworth, who began his career as a walk-on at Arkansas and ended up earning All-American honors as an offensive lineman in 1988.

Fresh off its second bye of the season, Utah State returns to action on Saturday, Nov. 5, when the Aggies host New Mexico on Merlin Olsen Field at Maverik Stadium at 1:30 p.m. The game will be televised on the CBS Sports Network. Tickets can be purchased here.
