ST. GEORGE, Utah - Utah State women's basketball lost in its road opener, 95-57, to Utah Tech (2-1, 0-0 WAC) on Tuesday night at Burns Arena.
The first quarter began as a back-and-forth affair with the teams exchanging runs. USU settled into the contest with a 9-0 run to take a 12-9 lead. The Trailblazers responded with a 9-0 run of their own to capture a lead they would not relinquish. Utah Tech entered halftime with a 40-26 lead. The Aggies were unable to engineer a second-half comeback as the Trailblazers shot 8-of-13 from behind the arc in the second half to ice the game.
Graduate guard Mayson Kimball added five rebounds and two assists to go along with a team-high 14 points on the night. Graduate forward Abby Wahl led the Aggies with 10 rebounds, narrowly missing a double-double with eight points. Graduate guard Maria Carvalho scored 13 points with eight rebounds, her third-straight game with eight rebounds. Junior Tamiah Robinson and sophomore Cristina Oliva each led USU with three assists in the contest.
