LOGAN, Utah – Utah State grad senior safety
Hunter Reynolds earned a spot on the 2022 Pro Football Focus (PFF) All-America Team, it was announced Tuesday by the organization.
Reynolds garnered honorable mention accolades from PFF, becoming just the first Aggie defensive back to be named an All-American since Jalen Davis in 2017, and only the sixth DB to earn All-America honors in school history, along with Nevin Lawson (2013), Will Davis (2012), Travis Clark (1988) and Henry King (1966).
The native of South Orange, New Jersey, is also one of just four Mountain West players named a PFF All-American, joining San Diego State defensive lineman Jonah Tavai (first team), San José State defensive end Viliami Fehoko (second team) and SDSU punter Jack Browning (second team).
The 6-foot, 200-pound Reynolds was one of just three Aggies on the defensive side of the ball to start all 12 games this season and one of two players to score a defensive touchdown as he returned a fumble 55 yards for a score against New Mexico.
Overall, Reynolds ranks second on the team with 88 tackles, three interceptions, seven pass breakups and three double-digit tackle outings as he had a season-high 10 tackles against both Weber State, Boise State and New Mexico.
Reynolds, who also earned honorable mention accolades from the MW on Tuesday, currently ranks fourth in the conference and 35th in the nation with three interceptions (0.25 pg), and 11th in the MW in tackles (7.3 pg).
The former Michigan Wolverine had 83 tackles in his first season with the Aggies in 2021, to go along with three pass breakups, one interception and one fumble recovery. In the Mountain West championship game at No. 19 San Diego State, Reynolds tied his season high with 10 tackles in Utah State's 46-13 win.
