LOGAN, Utah – Utah State football senior Connor Coles has been named the America First Credit Union USU Student-Athlete of the Week for the period ending on Sunday, Nov. 6. The award is voted on by a state-wide media panel.
 
With their sponsorship of the Student-Athlete of the Week, America First Credit Union donates funds directly to support student-athlete scholarships.
 
The native of Bozeman, Montana, tied his career-high with 15 points scored in Utah State's 27-10 Mountain West home win against New Mexico last weekend. Coles, who was 2-of-3 on field goals (49, 27) and 3-for-3 on extra points, scored his first-career touchdown on a 6-yard run on a fake field goal.
 
It is Coles' first time in his career being named the USU student-athlete of the week.

MEN'S TENNIS – Senior David Cierny (Zvolen, Slovakia) lost to Florida State's Antoine Cornut-Chauvinc, 6-2, 6-1, in the first round of the ITA Fall National Championships in San Diego, California. Cornut-Chauvinc was seeded seventh in the tournament and ranked 105th in the nation in the preseason ITA rankings.
 
VOLLEYBALL – Sophomore opposite side hitter Adna Mehmedovic (Peoria, Arizona) led Utah State to a 2-0 Mountain West record last week with wins at Fresno State (3-0) and San Diego State (3-1). Against the Bulldogs, she had 11 kills and hit .375 (11-5-16), while adding a career-high-tying four digs and two blocks. And against the Aztecs, she had 11 kills and hit .381 (11-3-21), to go along with two blocks, two digs and one assist. Mehmedovic also helped the Aggies set a new program record for a four-set match hitting percentage of .371 against SDSU. For the week, Mehmedovic averaged 3.14 kills per set and finished second on the team in hitting percentage (.378) and points (24.0).
