LOGAN, Utah – Utah State volleyball redshirt freshman middle blocker
Bella Wooden has been named the Mountain West Freshman of the Week, it was announced on Monday.
It is Wooden's second MW weekly accolade this season and of her career.
The native of Summerfield, North Carolina, led Utah State with a .526 hitting percentage (11-1-19) as USU went undefeated on the road last week with a 3-0 sweep at Fresno State and a 3-1 victory at San Diego State.
Wooden helped the Aggies set a program record for a hitting percentage in a four-set matchas USU hit .371 against SDSU. She hit .364 against the Aztecs and a career-high-tying .750 against the Bulldogs. Wooden finished both matches with at least five kills with six at Fresno State and five at San Diego State.
Wooden tied for the team lead in blocks with nine, averaging 1.29 per set. She logged a team-best and career-high-tying seven blocks against the Aztecs. She also finished the week with 17.0 points and two digs.
Utah State returns to the Wayne Estes Center on Thursday, Nov. 10, as the Aggies host San Josè State (18-6, 12-2 MW) at 7 p.m.
