LOS ANGELES, California - Utah State women's basketball lost to Loyola Marymount, 71-63, on Saturday at Gersten Pavilion.
The Lions took first control of the game, taking a 13-5 lead with two minutes remaining in the opening frame. Utah State responded by outscoring LMU, 29-15, to take a six-point advantage into halftime. The Lions retook the lead at the start of the second half via a 13-2 run. The sides traded leads through the rest of the third quarter as USU faced a 51-50 deficit entering the fourth quarter.
USU took a 54-53 lead after graduate forward Prima Chellis scored two layups to start the final period. LMU then embarked on a 11-2 run to take firm control en route to the final victory.
Junior guard Tamiah Robinson led the Aggies with 15 points on 5-of-10 shooting, including 4-of-5 from 3-point range. Junior guard Olivia Wikstrom also added 10 points alongside a team-high three steals. Graduate guard Mayson Kimball led USU with seven rebounds while graduate guard Maria Carvalho led the team with five assists. Senior forwards Prima Chellis and Ashya Klopfenstein each added nine points off the bench. USU shot 7-of-17 from 3-point territory as part of a 22-of-53 mark overall from the field.
