LOGAN, Utah – Utah State men's tennis has released its 2023 spring schedule, as announced by head coach Aaron Paajanen on Tuesday. The Aggies are set to face at least seven opponents who finished the 2022 dual season ranked in the top 75 nationally.

The Aggies enter their fourth season under Paajanen and return a total of seven letterwinners to the 2023 squad. Four seniors headline the Aggie roster in David Cierny, Javier Ruiz, Roko Savin and Bodin Zarkovic. USU also returns junior Jack Ninteman and sophomore Sergi Micó Fenollar from last year's team. Sophomore Christian Holmes returns to Utah State after playing his freshman year in 2020. The Aggies also added junior Stijn Paardekooper via transfer from St. Bonaventure.

Utah State opens the season with a pair of road matches in Oregon. First, the Aggies will kick off 2023 at Oregon on Friday, Jan. 20. The Ducks finished the 2022 season ranked No. 52 in the country. USU will then take on Portland on Sunday, Jan. 22, before returning to Logan for the team's home opener versus Eastern Washington at the Sports Academy & Racquet Club on Friday, Feb. 3. USU will remain at home to host Grand Canyon the next day on Saturday, Feb. 4.

The Aggies then continue their season against a pair of in-state rivals, first taking on Utah in Salt Lake City on Wednesday, Feb.8, before playing host to BYU on Saturday, Feb. 11. USU then travels to Colorado for a pair of matches, playing Denver on Friday, Feb. 17, and Idaho on Saturday, Feb. 17, with both matches taking place in Denver. Utah State then will head south to again take part in the ASU Invite, an eight-team dual match tournament, in Tempe, Arizona, on Friday through Sunday, Feb. 24-26.

USU will finish out its road nonconference schedule with a trio of matches in California over a four-day period to open the month of March. The Aggies will play on back-to-back days, first at UC Riverside on Wednesday, March 8, before taking on UC Santa Barbara on Thursday, March 9. Utah State closes out the Cali road trip at UC Irvine on Saturday, March 11. Both UCSB and UC Irvine finished the 2022 season in the rankings, finishing 56th and 67th, respectively.

Utah State concludes nonconference action with a pair of home matches at the SARC. The Aggies will host Idaho State on Saturday, March 18, before a final match before conference play against Weber State on Sunday, March 26.

The Aggies begin Mountain West play with a two-match trip to the Silver State.
