LOGAN, Utah – Utah State men's basketball senior guard Sean Bairstow has been named the America First Credit Union USU Student-Athlete of the Week for the period ending on Sunday, Dec. 25. The award is voted on by a state-wide media panel.
 
It is the second time this season and in his career Bairstow has earned America First Credit Union USU Student-Athlete of the Week accolades.

The native of Brisbane, Australia, averaged 14.0 points, 4.3 rebounds, 2.3 assists and 0.5 blocks per game, while shooting 51.2 percent (21-of-41) from the field and a team-best 57.1 percent (8-of-14) from behind the arc.  Bairstow shot at least 50 percent from the field in all four games last week, while shooting 66.7 percent from behind the arc against both SMU (4-of-6) and Washington State (2-of-3). 

Bairstow extended his double figure scoring streak to seven after finishing in double digits against Weber State (14), Seattle U (13), SMU (18) and Washington State (11). He logged a career-best eight rebounds against the Mustangs and followed with a team-best five rebounds against the Cougars. Bairstow recorded multiple assists in three games, while registering one block against both Seattle U and SMU.
 
Utah State opens the Mountain West portion of its schedule by playing host to Fresno State, at noon, on New Year's Eve. Tickets can be purchased here.

WOMEN'S BASKETBALL – Graduate forward Prima Chellis (Phoenix, Arizona) scored a season-high 14 points in Utah State's 84-54 loss at Eastern Washington. Overall, she shot 3-of-12 from the field and 6-for-8 at the free throw line. She also had five rebounds in the contest.
