LOGAN, Utah - Utah State plays its 2021-22 home finale on Saturday night, hosting Colorado State.
Opening Tips
• Utah State leads the all-time series against the Rams (66-41) and has won seven of the last 10. USU is 20-9 all-time against Colorado State in Logan and has won three of the last four inside the Dee Glen Smith Spectrum.
• Colorado State won the first game between the two teams earlier this season, 77-72. That game, USU junior guard Sean Baistow recorded career highs 20 points and four steals.
• The game on Saturday night marks Senior Night with seniors Brandon Horvath, RJ Eytle-Rock, Brock Miller and Justin Bean set to play their final game inside the Dee Glen Smith Spectrum.
• Eytle-Rock will be playing in his 100th career game, marking the fourth Aggie with 100 or more games during their career.
• Utah State's magic number has been 70 this season as every Aggie victory has come when USU scores 70 or more points in a game.
• Another key to victory has been balanced scoring, as Utah State is 12-2 on the year when four or more players score in double figures.
• In light of international events, we remind all that USU sophomore guard Max Shulga is from Kyiv, Ukraine, with his family still living in Kyiv.
• In its seven league victories this season, USU has averaged 80.7 points per game and shot 53.4 percent (211-of-395) with four different players averaging double figures in Bean (19.4), Horvath (15.0), sophomore guard Steven Ashworth (11.9) and Bairstow (11.3).
• In the last game against UNM, USU's starting frontcourt of Bean and Horvath combined for 40 of the Aggies' 81 points and shot 73.9 percent (17-of-23) from the floor and 66.7 percent (4-of-6) from behind the 3-point line.
• Bean is the first player since Ben Simmons (LSU) in 2015-16 to average more than 18.0 points, 9.5 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 1.5 steals per game while shooting better than 55 percent from the floor. Bean and Simmons are the only two players since 1992-93 to record that stat line.
• In addition to excelling on the court, Bean is one of only two players in the Mountain West recently named academic all-district by the Collegiate Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). (Isaiah Stevens, CSU)
• Bean has 17 double-doubles this season, tying for fifth in a single season in school history. Bean needs one more double-double to move into a tie for third all-time.
• Bean recorded his 43rd-career double-double against New Mexico, finishing with 21 points and 10 rebounds. Bean needs two more double-doubles to move into second place all-time in both USU and MW history.
• Utah State is fourth in the nation in total assists (523), fifth in assists per game (18.0), 20th in field goal percentage (.481) and 23rd in assist-to-turnover ratio (1.42).
• Utah State is the only team in the MW with five or more players averaging more than two assists per game.
• Bean is among the nation's leaders in multiple statistics, ranking sixth in double-doubles (17), ninth in total rebounds (283), 11th in total field goals made (203), 13th in defensive rebounds per game (7.34), 14th in total minutes (1025:18), 17th in rebounds per game (9.8) and 25th in total points (524).
