LOGAN, Utah - Utah State ends a three-game stretch in five days when the Aggies host UNLV on Saturday, Feb. 5, at 4 p.m.
Opening Tips
• UNLV leads the all-time series 34-11, however Utah State has won six of the last eight. The Aggies are 7-13 all-time against the Runnin' Rebels in Logan.
• Utah State currently has the longest winning streak in the MW, having won each of its last four games.
• Over the four-game stretch, USU is shooting 50.9 percent (114-of-224) from the floor and winning the battle of the boards by 13.3 rebounds per game.
• The Aggies have also knocked down 10 triples in three of the last four games and are averaging 21.5 assists per contest.
• Utah State has given three of its last four opponents the largest defeat of the season with an 18-point victory over San Diego State, a 29-point win over Nevada and a 27-point victory over Air Force.
• Utah State opened its conference slate being outscored by 2.7 points per game over its first six games, but over the last four have outscored its opponents by more than 22 points per game (+22.5).
• Utah State committed a season-low five turnovers in its last contest against San José State.
• Utah State is third in the nation in total assists (418), seventh in assists per game (18.2), 19th in assist-to-turnover ratio (1.38) and 21st in field goal percentage (.481).
• Utah State's leading scorers, senior forward Justin Bean (18.1 ppg), graduate forward Brandon Horvath (12.6 ppg) and junior guard Sean Bairstow (10.1 ppg) are all shooting better than 50 percent from the floor. Bean is shooting 56.1 percent (160-of-285), Horvath 50.5 percent (110-of-218) and Bairstow is shooting 50.4 percent (63-of-125).
• The production doesn't fall off when USU turns to the bench as sophomore guard Max Shulga is shooting a team-best 63.6 percent (14-of-22) from the floor during league games, while junior center Trevin Dorius is shooting 63.2 percent (12-of-19) in MW competition.
• Horvath has been stuffing the stat sheet over the last two games, turning in 17 points, nine rebounds and seven assists against Air force, and 19 points, 11 rebounds, five assists, three blocks and two steals against San José State.
• In fact, Horvath led the Aggies in points, rebounds, assists, blocks and steals against the Spartans.
• Bean is among the nation's leaders in multiple statistics, ranking sixth in double-doubles (14), eighth in total rebounds (228), 11th in total field goals made (160) and total minutes (810:26), 12th in defensive rebounds per game (7.35), 15th in rebounds per game (9.9) and 22nd in total points (417).
• Horvath and Bean each logged a double-double against SJSU, as Horvath recorded 19 points and 11 rebounds and Bean finished with 18 points and 11 rebounds. The double double-double is the first for the Aggies this season and the first since Bean and current NBA-big man Neemias Queta each recorded a double-double in the MW Tournament Semifinals in 2021.
