Box Score OGDEN, Utah — Utah State men's tennis won their second straight road match on Saturday, defeating Weber State, 5-2, at the Ogden Athletic Club.
 
In doubles play, junior David Cierny and Bodin Zarkovic came up short in a 6-4 loss to Sebastian Buxman and Bo-Han Li. Facing a possible deficit, the Aggies battled through two close matches on courts two and three to eventually secure the doubles point. Sophomore Jack Ninteman and junior Javier Ruiz defeated Elyes Marouani, 7-6, while senior Felipe Acosta and freshman Sergi Mico Fenollar combined to defeat Jordan Coutinho and Matteo Savio, 7-6, to give USU the 1-0 advantage entering singles play.
 
Utah State's momentum continued into singles play as Mico Fenollar was dominant in a 6-1, 6-0 victory over Li followed by Cierny dispatching Buxman at the one-spot, 6-3, 6-4, to extend USU's lead to 3-0. A pair of victories by the Wildcats trimmed the cushion to 3-2 before senior Maksymilian Raupuk clinched the Aggie victory, defeating Coutinho, 7-5, 4-6, 6-3. Junior Javier Ruiz further solidified the win by outlasting Savio in three sets, 6-1, 4-6, 7-5.
 
The win was Utah State's eighth straight victory over Weber State and moves the Aggies to 3-1 on the season. Next up, USU returns home and welcomes undefeated Gonzaga to the Sports Academy & Racquet Club on Friday, February 11. The match is currently scheduled for 11 am (MT).
