SAN LUIS OBISPO, California — Utah State lost to No. 67-ranked Call Poly, 4-3, at the Mustangs Tennis Complex on Saturday. It is USU's fifth loss this season by a score of 4-3.

The Mustangs struck first with victories at the second and third positions of doubles play to take the early 1-0 lead. At the No. 1s, junior Javier Ruiz and sophomore Jack Ninteman had their match suspended in a tiebreak with the match tied, 6-6.

Starting singles play, the teams began alternating points as the Aggies tied the match at one apiece when junior Bodin Zarkovic notched a 6-1, 6-2 win over the Mustangs' Joe Leather. Cal Poly retook the lead with a victory on court three before freshman Sergi Mico Fenollar again tied things up by defeating Hendrik Inno, 6-2, 6-4. The Mustangs then broke the streak of alternating points by winning matches at the fourth and sixth positions to clinch the match. Junior David Cierny then brought the match to its final tally with a win at the first position over CP's Noah Berry, 6-6 (4), 3-6, 10-8.

Utah State now will return home to host Portland on Sunday, March 20, at 10 a.m. (MT).
