LOS ANGELES, California — Utah State lost to Loyola Marymount, 4-3, at the LMU Tennis Center on Tuesday. It is USU's fourth loss by a score of 4-3 this season.
 
Doubles play was a sharply contested affair as all three matches came down to tiebreak situations. Only junior David Cierny and senior Maksymilian Raupuk were able to convert the tiebreak into a victory, however, as the Lions claimed wins on courts one and three to take the doubles point and a 1-0 lead heading into singles play.
 
LMU again struck first in singles with a win at the fourth position to take a 2-0 lead before junior Bodin Zarkovic put the Aggies on the board with a straight-set victory over Jose Dominquez, 6-3, 7-5. Following Zarkovic's victory, LMU took points at the sixth and first positions to clinch the match. 
 
After the clinching point, senior Felipe Acosta brought one back for USU at the third position, defeating Manoel De Alencar in three sets, 6-4, 1-6, 6-4. Junior Roko Savin captured the last point of the day, winning a third-set tiebreak to defeat Rana-Roop Bhullar, 6-4, 2-6, 7-6, for the final tally.
 
Utah State will remain on the road to take on UC Riverside tomorrow at 10 a.m. (MT).
