LOGAN, Utah – Utah State women's track & field sophomore Gia Malone has been named the America First Credit Union USU Student-Athlete of the Week for the period ending on Sunday, April 10. The award is voted on by a state-wide media panel.

It is Malone's first time in her career being named USU's student-athlete of the week. It is also the first time a member of the USU women's track & field team has won the honor this year.

Malone, an Orlando, Florida, native, placed first in both the high jump (1.65m/5-5.00) and the long jump (5.85m/19-2.50) at the Utah State-hosted Aggie Invitational last weekend. Malone's mark in the long jump placed her ninth all-time in school history, while her mark in the high jump was a personal-best.

Utah State track & field will continue its outdoor season at two meets this weekend on the road. The Aggies will compete at the Long Beach Invitational and the Mt. SAC Relays in Walnut, California. Both meets will take place on Thursday through Saturday, April 14-16.
