VARIOUS, California — Utah State track & field completed competition at the Mt. SAC Relays on Friday. The Aggies had five athletes competing in the first two days of the three-day meet.
Senior Katie Haviland was responsible for USU's high-water mark of the two competitions, placing first in the women's 3,000-meter steeplechase at the Mt. SAC Relays. Haviland's time of 10:12.29 set a new personal record and is also the fastest time in the Mountain West this season by more than eight seconds. Haviland remains second all-time in the event in Utah State history behind former Aggie Cierra Simmons Mecham's mark of 9:49.33 set in 2018.
Junior Abby Jensen followed close behind Haviland in the steeplechase with a 12th-place finish out of 77 total runners in the event. Jensen's time of 10:25.69 moves her to sixth all-time at USU.
Utah State's lone male representatives at the Relays took part in the men's steeplechase. Freshman Max Wehrli placed 15th out of 73 participants with a personal-best time of 8:56.00. Senior Mark Crandall then placed 31st with a time of 9:02.70.
