ALBUQUERQUE, New Mexico — Utah State men's tennis won, 4-3, at New Mexico on Sunday at the McKinnon Family Tennis Stadium. The Aggies stormed back from a 3-0 deficit to secure the road victory.

"Incredible college tennis match today," head coach Aaron Pajaanen said. "Fortunate that it went our way. Proud of the guys for fighting until the very last point."

The Lobos opened the match by securing the doubles point with wins at the second and third positions. At the top spot of doubles play, juniors David Cierny and Bodin Zarkovic scored a 6-1 win for USU.

In singles play, New Mexico strengthened their grip on the match with straight-set victories at the first and third positions to take a 3-0 lead. USU began on the comeback trail at the No. 4-spot where senior Felipe Acosta scored a 7-5, 6-3 victory.

Each of the final three singles matches of the day went three sets. In a do-or-die situation, junior Javier Ruiz kept the Aggies alive by winning a third-set tiebreak for a 6-3, 3-6, 7-6 (6) victory at the sixth position. At the No. 5s, junior Roko Savin outlasted his opposition to win, 7-5, 3-6, 7-5, and tie the match at 3-3. The match then came down to the second position where Cierny controlled the final two sets en route to a 5-7, 6-3, 6-2, win to finish off the Aggies' comeback victory.

The Aggies moved to 4-2 in Mountain West play with the victory and can now finish no worse than a tie for second place.
