LOGAN, Utah – Utah State softball (25-24, 10-8 Mountain West) lost 6-0 to Boise State (34-10, 13-5 MW) at LaRee & LeGrand Johnson Field on Sunday.
The Broncos scored three runs in the top of the second to hold a 3-0 edge.
The Aggies had their biggest offensive threat of the game in the bottom of the sixth after senior right fielder
Sydnee Smith singled, freshman third baseman
Claudia Medina reached on a fielder's choice and freshman pinch hitter
Ariel Lopez singled to load the bases with no outs. However, Boise State retired the next three USU batters in order to maintain the 3-0 margin.
The Broncos scored three more runs in the top of the seventh as Boise State won 6-0.
Freshman
Mia Reynolds made the start in the circle for the Aggies, striking out three batters and walking one in her 4.0 innings pitched. She was relieved by senior
Kapri Toone, who walked one batter in her 3.0 innings of work.
Utah State next takes on San Diego State (32-12, 15-2 MW) in San Diego, California, on Friday, May 6, Saturday, May 7, and Sunday, May 8.
