LOGAN, Utah – Utah State's Mica Rivera has been named the America First Credit Union USU Student-Athlete of the Week for the period ending on Sunday, May 29. The award is voted on by a state-wide media panel.
 
It is Rivera's first time in her career being named USU's student-athlete of the week.
 
With their sponsorship of the Student-Athlete of the Week, America First Credit Union donates funds directly to support student-athlete scholarships.
 
The senior from Herriman, Utah, placed 14th in the 10,000 meters at the NCAA West Preliminary Championships last Friday in Fayetteville, Arkansas. In her first-career appearance at the West Prelims, Rivera finished with a time of 34:09.64 in the race, improving on her own personal record, which ranks second all-time in the event at USU.

MEN'S TRACK & FIELD – Senior Mark Crandall (Shelley, Idaho) placed 24th in the 3,000-meter steeplechase at the NCAA West Preliminary Championships last weekend in Fayetteville, Arkansas. Crandall finished with a time of 8:52.40 in his first-career appearance at the West Prelims.
